Magnetek, Inc. Introduces M-FORCE™ 240/480/575 Volt Drives
MENOMONEE FALLS, Wis. - August 30, 2010 - Magnetek, Inc., (NYSE: MAG) a leading designer and manufacturer of severe duty mining variable frequency drives, today announced the introduction of its new M-FORCE™ 240/480/575 Volt General Purpose AC Variable Frequency Drives for mining applications. This rugged and reliable drive is designed for a variety of pumps, fans and conveyors in tough mining environments.
Its dual ratings, normal and heavy duty, enable the most economical match of overload capacity and starting torque for your application. Providing the right fit to power requirements is also very easy with 208/240 and 480 volt rating, built-in BUS choke above 30 HP, 12-pulse capability above 30 HP, common BUS capability, and regeneration options. Other features include motor auto-tuning and a wide range of configurable options, such as breakers and fuse.
The M-FORCE 240/480 Control is a mining workhouse that can handle conventional application of the typical industrial plant, from simple variable torque pumping to sophisticated networked material handling.
The M-FORCE 757 Control produces an output of adjustable voltage and frequency to control the speed of a squirrel cage induction motor. This drive addresses the higher 575 Volt requirements of some mines. Its PWM design provides low motor noise and high starting torque. The drive provides three modes of control and speed accuracy to suit application requirements.
The M-FORCE is factory-programmed and ready to run. For operational simplicity and clarity, the LCD operator display has five lines with 16 characters. The keypad is intuitive and includes parameter copying to move a chosen set of parameters from one drive to another. If the application requires programming, the M-Force makes it easy. Parameters are grouped in easy-to-use sets – quick start and advanced.
To provide the optimum control method, the M-Force can operate in conventional V/f, V/f with encoder feedback, open loop vector, or closed loop vector mode. Drive performance can be further enhanced for a specific application with optional software. It supports the industry's open architecture, open connectivity demands with network communications choices such as DeviceNet, Profibus-DP, and others.
"The M-FORCE 240/480/575 is the newest addition to Magnetek's line of state-of-the-art industrial drives and controllers," said Brad Taylor, Magnetek Energy System's vice president and general manager. "We are pleased to offer this versatile family of drives to the mining industry. Our track record for reliability and value has been firmly established with over 30 years and 10,000 drives of mining control experience in the field."
